Risks of Crowning

- Resultant Illness -

X-ray picture of a dead tooth

This X-ray picture was taken of two crowned teeth of the upper jaw, a canine (left) and a bicuspid (right). Around the top of the roots of the bicuspid there is an inflammation in the bone (dark region in the red circle), where the bone is dissolved. This is the consequenze of the dead of the pulp. Such an illness happens within 5 years after crowning in 5 % of the cases. We tried an endodontic treatment, but the canal in the curved root was obliterated and so ist was extracted.
