PREPOMETER measures the electric resistance of the dentine. The accomplishment of such a measurement requires the completion of an electric circuit. For this purpose, an electrode is fitted to the oral cavity at any location, e.g. at the corner of the mouth, and connected to PREPOMETER. The measuring tip of PREPOMETER is moistened with a physiological saline solution for contact to the dentine tubuli. The superficially dried tooth stump is now scanned with the measuring tip, whereby the PREPOMETER display has to be noticed. The illuminating diodes now signalize, if a deeper preparation is possible.
